We at PCI are excited to tell you about big changes to our e-mail system. We have not only purchased new servers to run your e-mail on, but have also implemented entirely upgraded software called MagicMail. Those of you who use Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, and various other email programs will not need to change your configuration. Those of you who use our webmail will experience the most exciting part of the change. An upgraded interface!

The migration is relatively seamless. Your current email configuration will not change. We will be sending out informative emails periodically and updating both our web site at http://customer.pcisys.net and our webmail http://webmail.pcisys.net. To assist in the migration, now is a really good time to take a look at your current email and remove old unneeded messages using either your IMAP delete/empty trash or our current webmail.

Cleaning up your emailbox is especially important for current POP3 customers who leave email on our server. During the migration, the internal message id for each email will change. This means that your current emails on our server will appear as new emails to your email program the first time you check email on the new system. By decreasing the number of days you leave the email on our server; or by removing older email, you can avoid having to download alot of old email. You can tell if you are using POP3 by looking at your email program configuration under Incoming Mail.

While the new system is not yet available, we wanted to include a few details of what to expect when it goes live.

1. Anti-Spam Features

Spammers (or junk emailers) are using more and more complex methods to send junk emails each day. To help combat this, the methods used to block these unwanted emails from your Inbox are becoming more numerous and diverse. MagicMail is designed to give you the maximum control over your mailbox. You now have the control over whether you want to receive messages identified as 'spam' in a special quarantine IMAP folder, or simply reject them right away and keep your mailbox clean. You also have the option directly in webmail of simply selecting a message that you no longer want to receive and clicking 'Block Sender' - or optionally, if there is a message in your Spam folder you can simply select it and click on 'Allow Sender' so that such message will be placed in your Inbox directly in the future.

For the initial migration, we will not be copying over your current SPAM filter settings based on the recommendation of the email software vendor. We will have access to your current settings, and can assist you in implementing them in the new system, if necessary.

2. User Management Interface

You will use the included web interface to manage your email settings. If you have just one email account, you will be able to use this web interface to add a forward, set an auto-responder, change your password, or customize your anti-spam settings.

Once you have logged in, you will see the menu on your left providing you with several options. Please understand this information is for reference, and the new system is not yet available.

Spam Management: You can modify your anti-spam configuration. CAUTION: You must be careful when making changes here or you may inadvertently start identifying email you would like to receive as spam. If you are unsure how to proceed, please email support at tech@pcisys.net. Email Options: You can modify your email options. You can forward your email to another address, or you can set up your vacation auto responder.

3. Webmail

If you have not used webmail before, you will find it extremely useful for the times when you are away from your normal PC and wish to send a message or check your email. When you use webmail to check your email, your messages will still be left for you to download to your local PC when you return, unless you delete them. This makes the system very handy for those occasions when you are not at your normal PC.

Once you log in to your webmail with your email address and password, you will see your messages displayed. You'll be able to view, reply, and send new messages. The new system will support 2 separate webmail systems: 1) Webmail Lite which is a basic system similar to our current webmail; and 2) Tuxedo which is a full featured drag and drop system that requires a browser with more advanced features.

4. Mail Client Configuration

When setting up a mail client on your own computer or devices in the future, you may be asked to fill in some details about your email account. The settings currently on our web site are still valid. Over the coming weeks, we may suggest changes to your email settings to take advantage of additional features available with the new system.

All of us at PCI are very excited about the coming changes to our email service. We sincerely appreciate your great patience with us when our current e-mail system experienced problems in December and January. Although we will be following up with more information, please contact support at tech@pcisys.net, if you have any additional questions.
